The housing concept "Rubidium Series":

From comprehensive redundant systems all the way to economical single module applications, we have the housing design and price that your project requires. To increase the flexibility of the Alpermann+Velte modular RUBIDIUM system we have developed four different housings, each especially suitable for different applications.

RUB H1 back clip Our most popular housing is the RUB H1 Which is a 1 RU 19” housing with a capacity of up to four double card modules. For larger multi-channel applications the 3RU 19” RUB H3 is most suited, as its 80HP internal capacity can hold up to 20 single card modules. For economical single channel applications, the RUB S1 and TI offer all the features and interconnectivity of our other housings but they are designed for containment a single module only.


RUBIDIUM SERIES 1 is a modular system which offers flexibility to its users. The standard rack mount frame was designed to house up to 4 modules in 1RU space. Hot swapping of the rear loading modules is possible.

The connectors for inputs and outputs are a standard part of the module. There is a uniform front which offers a see-through window for four status LED's and cut-outs for 4 keys and an identification button for each module.

Housings H1 and H3 have a separate module with a fan controller and a temperature control. The controller status is available over TC_link (if an microprocessor based module - like all generator / inserter modules - is in the same frame) and the failure relay.

All four versions of RUB frames can be interconnected (via standard RLC connector, see reverse) with all other RUB housing formats and therefore enable easy data exchange between modules and easy upgrade options, for possible additionally required modules.

The fail signals are produced by a relay contact. The normally open contact close if a breakdown or programmed failure occurs. The relays of all modules are in parallel operation. Each module and housings H1 and H3 are equipped with their own relay.

RLC-Connector The slots of the frame only differ by their individual, hard wired address. Each frame has a settable address. Modules which can individually configured (e.g. the time code and video modules, but not the power supply modules), can be located by their addresses. The PC connector (USB) at the rear of the frame provides the interface for the configuration of a module. With the aid of our configuration software each module can be addressed and can receive a user selectable configuration.
