Studio Clocks SC-303, SC-304, SC-305

SC-303

Alpermann+Velte studio clocks are attractive, long lasting, maintenance-free and vital components of a professional studio’s system. In a defined place of a studio, they display the exact time. This precise functionality is necessary and available at a reasonable price.

Common qualities of all our studio clocks

All studio clocks are driven by a strong, accurate, stable and extremely quiet motor. To enable an ultra quiet action, the gear sprockets are made out of a special plastic and the axes are encased in oil. The motor drive allows for a stepping movement of the hands.

By way of an interface circuit board, the time is read and then indicated on the face of the clock. The indicated time is constantly being compared to the current value that is being received and can then be corrected if necessary. Time jumps or changes, such as the summertime or wintertime changes, leap seconds or when manually adjusting the time can be dealt with in various ways. This depends on the selected mode, whether it should be changed directly after recognition, only at a particular time (e.g. in the middle of the night) or only after a manual yes/no acceptance.

All studio clocks have one of two possible built-in interfaces:
  • One interface version has an LTC, RS 232/422/485 and GPI interface, with compatibly to LTC-, impulse telegram and our MTD applications.
  • The second version has an Ethernet interface. MTD and other time protocols (for example NTP time) can be read and decoded with this second available interface. SNMP functions are also optionally available with this second interface.
Both versions of clock interfaces are equipped with an USB interface for configuration and for adjustment of clock settings. In addition via this interface and an available software you can chose, the transfer protocol, the choice of time zones, GPI functions, how the clock should react to time jumps, backlight options and it is also used for software upgrades.

An internal clock chip enables the last available time to accurately continue during input signal failures, and can bridge signal losses for up to a one-week period.

The minutes and the hours are displayed with varnished black “DIN” norm hands. The seconds hand is varnished with a red colour for increased distinguishability. The diameter of the white background is 290 mm’s and the hour markers are printed with 12 black beam figures in a “DIN” norm style.

The metal housing is painted on the front side and has a shock resistant plexiglass front cover to protect the face of the clock. On the rear, holes are strategically positioned for simple mounting of the clock. To aide with an easy installation the electrical connections are made with supplied screwing posts.

Special characteristics SC-303

A square housing with an easy to read AM/PM indicator and a backlit function.

SC-303Long life and energy efficient LED’s are used to enable a maintenance free backlit function. Light intensity is programmable and can automatically adjust to the light conditions in the studio.
A LED in the lower left corner can show the operational status of the clock. The function is programmable.

Description: MTD and NTP

MTD is a proprietary multiplexed format developed by Alpermann+Velte, enabling up to 16 different times to be encoded into the userbits of a Time Code.

NTP is an internet-based protocol designed for the delivery of accurate time over a network. You require a server to deliver the time of day via Ethernet for this version clock to function (e.g. AV IE-Modul) Even though the network delay can cause a jitter, a special stabilizing technique is used by the NTP decoder to enable a accurate time base for our analog clocks.
